[From Colombia's celebrated poet, Raúl Henao of Medellin,
here's another poem in Spanish, accompanied by its English translation, both
from Raúl's La vida a la carta or Life a la carte.]

THE
REVOLUTION
Every night I watch the beautiful blond woman slip behind the door of the old neighborhood church where a monk awaits her dressed in a habit. Her breast exposed in a brusque gesture reveals the outrageous beauty that incites the sudden outbreak of soap bubbles in a small basin in the public plaza. When she goes out again to the street adjusting the garter underneath her skirts I am able to read the gigantic placard brandished by a young worker: THE REVOLUTION IS JUST OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR. A hasty police roundup leaves the street of my dream deserted. ##
