SWALLOWING GOLDFISH AND CHEWING GREETING CARDS

Subject: Re: [AGALIST] VIRUS WARNING

Dear Al:

I just swallowed a goldfish at a BYOB party celebrating the 1920s and then chewed on a greeting card to clear my stomach and...I think I have a virus.

Is it because of the goldfish and chewing the greeting cars, or is it Sandman Insane(the Iraqi dope dealer and oil man)

In these trying times, anything is possible!!

  Big hugs.

                Kissinger?
                You've Got To Be Kidding
                by Sean Gonsalves

In the weeks following the attacks, one of Israel's leading daily's, Ha'aretz, quoted Odigo CEO Micha Macover as saying "two workers received the messages predicting the attack would happen."

And Odigo vice president of sales and marketing, Alex Diamandis, told Newsbytes reporter Brian McWilliams that Odigo workers in New York were warned prior to the attack but that the message did not identify the World Trade Center as the target.

According to Computerworld reporter George A. Chidi Jr., Odigo officials have been cooperating with the FBI in investigating exactly what transpired. Don't you think it's important to know if, in fact, Odigo employees had better intelligence than the FBI and CIA?  ##

al

yesterday I read again one of your columns (one of my favorites: hanging out with bob and the beatles) and there is the following part:

There is also a bit of magic in these Rabelaisian verbal shootouts of the '60s. just as there was magic in the fictional Rabelaisian "great debates," but I'll have to tell you at some other time about taking Bob and Robbie Robertson up to Brian Jones' suite at the Chelsea one very hot summer day

does this story exist`??? I´d love to read your memories about the above

all the best

AL, how are you today?

do you have plans to see the stones on their licks-tour? when did you see dylan the last time in concert? I feel sad, that it seems nobody really gives you the place in history that you belong to, your columns show your "thing", the go-between, big al, the hundreds of "enlightened" all around you, it´s such a joy reading, every time, I´m 25 and what a fucked-up-world, today, in some ways, I believe the 60´s are starting again, it´s high time, music business is a farce, making music today is a farce as well, fuckin´boy/ girlbands, selected/mixed by greedy fucks!

all you guys back in the 60´s may have took a little bit too much of this or that, but for youngsters like me, you were testing all areas, all your experiences can actually help, help swimming against not with

thanx

Hello,

I am amazed daily about the amount of sh*t you can find on the web, but this is the best stuff I've come across in awhile. I admit I've never heard of Al before, but won't forget now.  This site is an oyster and the quality output contained herein is certainly a shiny pearl. I've printed out a few articles already (interview with JK, the 'sacred scroll', Bobby D MSG show) and can't wait to get out of work and head home and read.

Thanks for providing such worthwhile texts in their entirety on the web. I'll spread the word.

Thanks,

Chad

I was fond of your ideologue placing politics that swings either left or right necessarily originating from an immovable center.  You do a wonderful job with The Blacklisted Journalist of appealing to all as a love-to-hate/hate-to-love genre.  I spent a mere 5 minutes poring over a few articles and found that I immediately loved to hate you and hated to love you.  Keep it up (and I know you will).

A journalist who is not blacklisted, or whitelisted...hell I'm not even listed.

LIFE-CHANGING

I’m a life long follower of George Harrison, my favorite Beatle. I read the interview of Dhani, saying Brainwashed may not be life changing. But I want him to know and Olivia as well, that it truly is life changing to me!!!! A perfect recording for the end of a career in life and music, I listen to it 5 or 6 times a day, and it goes perfectly with "All Things Must Pass" as well. If you could get this email to them, maybe it would make them both feel a positive feeling. Thanks   Doug Meyer  ##

KUDOS!

Mr. Aronowitz:

We have enjoyed your work back to its' origin (for us, anyway) in the mid-60's.

We recall an article on Bob Dylan’s visit to Brian Jones in an NYC hotel the night of the famous New York "black-out." In particular, a quote from Dylan to Jones (something like "watch your paranoia, Brian") struck us as funny and sad, simultaneously. You know, BD's mid-60's cynical persona, "playing head games" with Bob Neuwirth and Robbie Robertson as "co-coinspirators." The quote made these readers really feel the tough times Mr. Jones was going through, and told volumes about Mr. Dylan’s biting wit and general attitude... (We believe you authored this article, but do not recall "for sure".)

We have also enjoyed all your work on The Band - Mim & I have fostered a friendship with Mr. Levon Helms' personal assistant/manager (and the road manager for the last "version" of The Band in the 1990's) in the last five years or so, Mr. Leon "Butch" Dener.  We, like many other music lovers, have been outspoken, loyal fans of the entire quintet since their early days as the Hawks and as Bob Dylan’s "backing band" on his triumphant, ground breaking American and World Tours in 1965 and 1966. Butch has enabled us to meet with and get to know (in an acquaintance type of way) Mr. Helm, and it is/was one of our lifes' treasures to be able to tell the man how much his art/music has meant to us over the last 40 years. Your "first hand" stories of The Band, their music, and their personalities were always informative and a pleasure to read. One in particular (where you returned to your Woodstock, NY area home late one night in the late '70s, early '80s, to find Richard Manuel and (maybe - the memory ain't what it used to be) Rick Danko emptying your record collection into a car) was an insight... Again, not a "pleasurable" reading, but very "telling" as to Mr. Manuels' decline.

Aaahhh well, not always fun finding out what your "heroes" are like in real life. But that is what your writing did for us - Bring The Beatles, the beats, the Grateful Dead & Jerry Garcia, the Band, etc. to us as real-life, living and breathing folks. Also, your article on Emmett Grogan and Mac Rebennack (another perennial musical favorite) at "Elaines" (with an assorted cast of "characters", including Peter Coyote) and the article on Jerry Wexler (what a giant in the music biz) were fantastic. Dammit, I guess we'll just end up reading EVERY ARTICLE on the "Blacklisted Writer's" website (and wait hungrily for more to be added - hint, hint...)

Hoping your health is well, and your happiness is frequent.  We appreciate the sound advice on ALL smoke killing, but hope you still enjoy a cookie or two from time to time.  And your negative experiences with the worthless drug cocaine and your openness in making that a part of some of your writing has (hopefully) caused more than a few people to re-evaluate THEIR "optional recreational medicational entertainment" as well.  (You can probably tell that you've re-awoken two long time admirers who love Mac Rebennack’s "slanguage"). Your friends -
