Hi Al!

Jon Hammond here...greetings from San Francisco! I'm not writing to be put on an e mailing addres...please don't, but I happened to see your article about David Kapralik in Haiku Maui. I haven't seen David since around 1969/'70. Do you happen to have a contact for him there? If you know him, tell him that I'm the bandleader from the group Contraband that was the band Sheba Coates was in just prior to her coming down to stay with him in Hollywood...before she went through his glass door and cut herself all up! Long time!

I am still an active musician...I just played here in the Bay Area at Shoreline Ampitheatre and Bruno's. I'm going back to NYC next week where I do a cable access tv show the last 19 years. Interesting item there! Quite an eccentric that David!

Cheers,

Jon

E ABOUT GEORGE HARRISON FROM A NOVICE  MEDIUM

Subject: Well, it's like this....
Date: Tue, 10 Sep 2002 15:07:20 -0700
From: "Adrienne" <arakielle@rfci.net>
To: <info@blacklistedjournalist.com>

Dear "BlackJ":

It is with a bit of trepidation that I write to you, but as insane as it may appear, well, here we go just the same. What's the big deal about being considered sane, anyway, right?

Introduction: I am a happily married "hermit" and have been a card reader and "psychic" for thirty-four years. My family is used to it. Most strangers are not.

In any case, mediumship is fairly new to me (having only started "other side" communications  - by accident  - seven years ago,) and I am not very good at it. The ability to see/communicate with Others seems to come and go as unpredictably as the visitors themselves.

Just the same, I've had a modest and gentle visitor three times now (four times, if you count a dream where he showed me a most unique ivory guitar with a folding neck.)

I'm terribly embarrassed to confess that at first I rather hoped he was here to help me get some of my music out to the world, or that he wanted me to "channel" him because he had something more to say, and wouldn't that be a nice and unexpected boost for my modest career as a counselor!"

Well, not one to keep up on public goings on ("star stuff", gossip and the like,) other than political/environmental/human rights issues, I learned more about Mr. Harrison than I ever knew while searching for a way to get my brief message out! That was what made me realize that he chose me (and I believe he has been trying with several other "unknowns" devoted primarily to spiritual pursuits,) in good part because I have always placed great store in maintaining my family's privacy. And I love gardening (though you couldn't tell much about that right now with this drought!) In truth it's scary to consider the realities of being "famous". It was a temptation in youth but now it would be a curse.

We may be "poor" but our trailer and the woods that grow beyond it is truly a blessed sanctuary and we don't have to fear crazed fans or even nosy (or noisy!) neighbors in the least. We haven't even seen broadcast television in nine years. We like it this way so please understand that this contact is not about wanting appreciation, money or public exposure. This is very personal. And really, when you get right down to it, rather general, un-newsworthy and unmystical but?here you have it.

I want to get a small message to Dhani from George. It isn't much, but hopefully, it will help him somehow. It seems that George has finally managed to reach his beloved wife on a spiritual level, and all is as well as can be expected in that area. When he came by the second time he wanted me to contact his wife. I had to stumble across her name: I couldn't tell from him. No luck in figuring out how to send her a letter though. Then I kind of dropped it...got busy with my work and almost forgot about George. But now he seems to want his son to know that he really hears him when he speaks to him in his heart and mind…and of course, that he loves him deeply and dearly. He said something to the effect of (he, George, knows) "Pops is (still) tops". I don't know if Dhani called him "Pop" or Dad or whatever, but those were the only "words" I got to pass along. Also - please remind both Olivia and Dhani that he is right there as close as a button when they want to be in contact with him. He hears everything addressed to him.

(To illustrate how much of a "novice medium" I am, all I "got" at first was that he wanted to reach "Dani" and because of the "I" on the end assumed the Harrisons had a daughter. Obviously I don't keep up with such things.)

I wish George would pick someone whom would have a better chance of actually reaching the Harrisons, like, John Edward. He at least is famous, and he gets a lot more detail than I generally do when contacted by those who have crossed over. In fact, I tried to get a hold of John immediately after first contact with George, so that he would be alert to talk to him. No luck. Fame creates the need for insulation and isolation for safety and sanity's sake. I was going to give up, figuring that "by now" some great medium with the right contacts has already passed the message along and probably even better than I could, but George came by again last week and "reminded me", shall we say? So here we go again with wasting hours on Internet searches looking for a miracle of information transfer.

I prefer to be a "nobody" living in the woods but it is terribly difficul for the "Nobodys" to reach the "Somebody's" in times like this. I hope that you will be able to help, and thank you if you can.

You now have my e-mail address so you can confirm that I "exist". If you get this message across to George's family and someone feels a need to follow it up, you will know how to find me. But there is no need at this point: that is "all the message" I have, and maybe all I'll ever hear from this gentle spirit.

But I have to say - what a genuinely NICE guy he is! He exudes this feeling that is so casual and relaxed - unpretentious just as the articles describe him! And also, humorous. I can see why he adores Eric Idle (and vice versa.)

He tried to make me feel at ease once I recognized him. Still, I can't help but feel a bit awed and blessed that he would bother with me at all.

That pretty much blows the communication - getting impressed and then getting self-conscious...by the time you get your heart to calm down, the moment is past.

Twice George has shown me an overstuffed chair - a bit tacky to my tastes in peach/coral and yellow, like something out of the 60's or from another country - but clearly comfortable. (Not so good for playing a guitar from, unless sitting on an arm.) Made me think "brocade" and also, tassels or fringe. He treated it humorously as if it were a "throne". It is probably simply a "prop" for my mind's eye to use but if not, he must really have enjoyed that chair! He sits on the arm, and plops into the depths of the cushions like a kid.

I'm sure I would have liked him had we met while he was here. He's a good man.

though i'm only nineteen and scrounging my way through college, I've become a big fan of yours and somehow feel as though I relate very well with what you write. I've got a few questions for you. Do you ever read anything sent to you by aspiring writers?

Do you think my generation will need a blacklisted journalist of it's own? Can you even foresee music and literature as once again something important and dignifying?

Thanks

Hello,

Actually I don't find solace in the following forwarded email and I'm not saying this to be petty. Many people (like myself) don't believe in god. Furthermore, the idea that you have to suffer to be blessed is an outdated notion that allows injustice to be directed in your direction as well as towards others on this planet who are less fortunate than us. We need to work harder on making this planet the heaven that it is capable of being instead of destroying the water, air, and food supply that is necessary to sustain us (all for the purpose of a few dollars profit). If you want a fair a compassionate world, you and society need to live in a fair and compassionate manner. Wars, bombs, genetically modified food, destruction of 1,000 year old redwood forests, unsafe drinking water, SUVs, lack of health care and child care, do not make a fair and compasionate society. Everybody talks about peace, love and understanding. But words without action don't mean a thing.

I know that the message had been sent with good intent, and I also forward that good intent.

May life give you blessings,

Attila

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven >>

ANOTHER E FROM ATTILA

Subject: May Life bless you (agalist)

Hello Fellow Human living on this planet called Earth,

I am writing this realizing that we are being inundated with images of 9/11 and pretzeldent Bush saying god bless america, lets bomb Saddam, and get those pipelines in Afghanistan going. Patriotism and Violence, gotta love it.

But there is something severely wrong with this picture and it is this. We live on a planet that has the capacity to support us if we take care of it. But we don't. We treat it just like we do humans, as a disposable commodity, only useful if profitable.

While we do mourn the loss of life from a year ago, we seem to be ignoring the life that will be lost due to our lifestyle -- one of over-consumption; destructive and violent behavior; waste; and lack of respect for the very world our survival depends upon. It is more short-sightedness than ignorance (I didn't want to say stupidity cause some might think that is rude). Water rights are being handed over to corporations, our food supply is being genetically modified to the point where it is no longer a food source for our body, and oil profits are more important than the blood that will be lost by the youth of the world. There are people dying everyday from toxic wastes that are a result of our over-consuming ways. And I don't even want to talk about how our country profits from the production of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction.

And I'm not saying that we need to hope for a better society. I'm saying that we need to act and take steps in the direction that we want to be in. If we want a fair and compassionate world, we need to have society act in a fair and compassionate manner. While it starts with an individual, it won't work if society doesn't make the necessary changes.

Everybody talks about peace, love and understanding. But words without action, don't mean a thing.

Peace,
Attila

(PS - a personal rant [as if the above wasn't] -- this thing with 'god bless america.' First, I am a non-religious person and I do find the statement offensive. Second, it would seem that the statement goes against the very nature of what religious people say their faith is based on -- one of acceptance and love of everybody. This statement excludes most of the world, and is a very prejudiced and divisive statement. My statement is this, start making this world a better heaven. May life bring you blessings.)  ##

CHRISTIAN BAUMAN'S NOVEL

Subject: Bauman book, festivities, and CONTEST!
Date: Thu, 5 Sep 2002 14:24:26 -0700 (PDT)
From: Christian Bauman dwoboogie@yahoo.com
Reply-To: christianbauman@pobox.com
To: info@blacklistedjournalist.com

Dear friends,

Just a brief note to update you on my novel. Thanks for all your kind e-mails, inquiries, etc. over the last summer and spring. Yes, I really am still alive, and most of the wild rumors are untrue (or I have no memory of the incident in question, which is the same thing).

The true rumor is this:

Simon & Schuster/Scribner is releasing my first novel "The Ice Beneath You" on October 1, 2002. It is now up on amazon.com and bn.com and the ususal other suspects, and ordering it now will get you the book sometime between tomorrow and October 1. You can save 3 bucks ordering it at amazon, and 4 bucks ordering it at bn.com. Ordering it at those sites by way of my site gets me a kickback and my undying gratitude. For bookstore buyers (God loves ya, and so do I), October 1 is the date to look, and bookstore clerks LOVE IT when you pester them.

Most of the reviews won't happen until the official release week (so I won't know if it sucks or not until then), but Kirkus and Publishers Weekly both already reviewed it, and I'm pleased to report they didn't think it sucked.

There will be many festivities in Oct. and Nov., including reading/signings (and folksingings??? hmmm...) in New York, Philadelphia, Northampton MA, Doylestown PA, Bethlehem PA, and later on San Francisco and Virginia. The confirmed dates (along with the published reviews, and links to order the book) are all here:

http://www.christianbauman.com

CONTEST: For you John Gorka fans out there: The title of the book is "The Ice Beneath You." The first person to e-mail me ( christianbauman@pobox.com ) with the name of the John Gorka song I got the title from gets a free, autographed copy of the novel mailed to you. (Excluded from this are any people I already told this secret to in a drunken stupor somewhere...).

Thanks friends, and (for the first time in 3 years) I'll see you out on the highway this fall...

-Chris  ##
