Thank you for your e. No, I did not know that blacks fought and died for the
south, the confederate flag and the confederacy. If they did, I can only assume
that (1) either all 2 or 3 or 4 of them were either in a delusional state or had
guns at their backs or (2) you have been misinformed. I will forward your e to
some friends who know more than I do about blacks fighting in the Civil War and
I will also put our exchange of emails on the email page of THE BLACKLISTED
JOURNALIST so readers can contribute to this debate, apparently occasioned by
"STARS & BARS ROCK GROUP! LYNRD SKYNRD AND THE KKK" at

Yes
I was reading your website and I'm very concerned about the confederate battle
flag issue and the racism. I dont
see how the flag is a symbol of racism. Its
a flag from the civil war that still remains today. Everyone that likes the confederate flag does not
automatically mean that they are racist. Why
is everyone so concerned about it? Its
not like the African-Americans dont have their groups.
I also have observed some black individuals that have the rebel flag.
I also dont never see the KKK on T.V.
I always see the NAACP on the news.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I dont think I am.

I didn't write the article. It was written by 2 white poets who reflect an
opinion that I share. I wasn't alive during the civil war and neither was
anybody else now living in America. But there is a minority of white
supremacists who claim the stars and bars as their symbol. The black community
is outraged by southerners who cherish the confederate flag, especially now,
when the nation is fighting against attackers. Patriotism demands allegiance to
the American flag and not to a banner that represented slave-holding treason.
You might be a southerner who cherishes the flag as part of your heritage but as
such you unwittingly give backing to white supremacists, one of whom is the
minority leader in the u.s. senate. A group called THE SONS OF THE CONFEDERACY
loves people like you who wittingly or unwittingly are still fighting the civil
war--Al Aronowitz
