HE WANTS ME TO CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT ISLAM

Subject:

From: "Karim Abdel Daiem" <karim10011@hotmail.com>

Dear,

I am writing to you and I hope to make you change your mind about Muslims and Islam. What do you know about Islam? Why do you build your thought about Islam on the theory of terrorism? Why do you always link any catastrophe happen in the world to the Muslims?

At the old time (Before the Islam), the ignorance and oppression was spread in Saudi Arabia and the surrounding regions. Moreover, there were many slaves who were being beaten to serve the rich people. Consequently, the evil spread between people there. BUT when the prophet Muhammad was inspired that he is the last prophet and that God chose him to be the qualified person who is responsible to spread the Islam in the world, all people that were in his place love each other. He said that there is no difference between the rich and poor people, all of them are same. Also he said that the most importance things in Islam is that people said that there only one God and he (Muhammad) is a prophet. Secondly, we must pray for God five times each day at certain times. Thirdly, we must pay money for poor people annually according to a certain ratio. The fourth thing is that god said to us that we must not eat for a certain time each day in the Ramadan month. At last, go and pray in the Holy Kabba. In other words, Islam is a religion of peace and the good relation between the people. I know that you are wondering why are some Muslims like Talaban and Bin laden do what they do. I completely agree with you that all of what they did is wrong ALTHOUGH their target is right. They are trying to force every foreign person to emigrate out of K.S.A. as our prophet Muhammad said to us. BE AWARE that there is a big difference between Bin Laden and the Palestinians. Firstly, the Palestinians do what they do in their home, but Talaban do this in other countries (e.g. USA). Secondly, Palestinians sacrifice by their souls for their country, but Talaban kill many innocents for his target. To sum up, our religion is teaching us how to pray to our God, to spread our religion between the people and at the same time is to spread peace between

ALL the people without considering their religion. If you to make sure of this ask any historic person (somebody who is special in history or is teaching history) about the time when all the religions were in peace and I am sure that they would say to you the time when the Muslims have the successful Leader.

N.B. I really need a reply.

Yours,
A person who cares about Islam  ##

ABOUT JOHN HAMMOND REMEMBERED

That was a nice story. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting John Hammond his work has increased the pleasure of my life immeasurably. Wouldn't it be nice if Columbia/CBS/Sony or whoever is in charge now would release a "John Hammond Legacy" collection. Similar to the John [Alan?] Lomax collections. His contribution to the recording of American music is staggering. When my kids mention that they like a particular piece of music I might be listening to I never fail to mention that this is a Hammond "discovery" hoping to show the connection of his recordings to the music of their generation. Billie Holiday,Count Basie, Dylan,Springsteen his ear spanned those generations like no one else's.

Yours in enjoyable listening.

Al,

hi! while we were playing a soundcheck song at MNN tv studio's 2 weeks ago, a crazed rabbi burst the room, threw his hands up in the air, eyes closed and shouted "Yes, Yes---this is where the energy is coming from!! I've been waiting for it all my life---you are going to be bigger than the beatles!" he excitedly bought 2 cd's, said he would get them played on the radio and left. Oi Vey!.......(I couldn't make up a story like this if I tried!)

in any case---we are trying to get into the various nyc clubs to see which ones we groove with. we talked with a guy named kenny at the Bitter End. told him you had seen us. he said "yeah i know al!". don't know if you would want to put in a good word or two for us there, it may help us get in. any advice you can throw our way would be great also.

any thoughts on mick jagger being knighted " what would brian think?!, or lennon on top of that!

Dear Al,   7-3-02

Glad to see you're eulogizing Bremser. I knew him. You should have asked me to contribute. I have an interview with him but the transcription is locked up at my archive at Lowell, which I'm now suing in court to get released. Couldn't sell the death penalty book. Writing a novel.

Love,
