The press has again gone above and beyond the call of duty. Not only are they failing to report on another Bush lie, they are also repeating his lie as if it were true.

The S.E.C. determined that Bush violated 4 laws in 1990 with his very timely Harken stock sale. He was found guilty. Of course he wasn't punished---is father was president at the time.

He was not "cleared by the S.E.C." But reporters from Cokie Roberts to Peter Jennings have been repeating Bush's line that he was cleared as though it were a fact.

A note on the lives of the poets. Ted Joans, Bremser, Rios, Baraka, Morris, Kaja, Greg all were and in Frainkie's, Amiri Baraka's and Ted's cases are the real American Poets. The guys from Academia are mainly limp dicks, they get a lot of print and take up a lot of space. They fog the air with their twitish arguments and they speak death breath. When they talk of love it is the life of safety, a check, an easy piece of ass from the clean White Student. There are no razor carrying women there. They will never know how to turn, take the cut and connect when the shank is on their neck and the guy says bend over.

Out here on the stones things a little different and it is so refreshing to see Bremser written about with honesty. I heard about him from Jimmy Morris, who ran with from the fifties till he died. He would wonder how the assholes who ran poetry in Denver would get on with Ray and guns. Morris was an armed robber too. See .22 For Her. When the academics captured Kerouac and entombed him in Boulder It wasn't the Jack of all words I met with Kaja, or the Jack off at the Kettle of Fish. What they have there is a clean smelling, wise, witty guy I never met..

I like the Lady's view. She seems real, like Elena Eckion or Red Syliva.

Try burning a poem at a college reading: all those stage hands trying to grab you... And the screams from the professors and grad students as security throws you out. "Real World, Real World, Real Real World" to quote Steve Webber. The Beats being mainly White maybe lacked a basic hipness but many saw well and could write. They were hell on friendship, rotten to women and children, why snivel, read them and weep: while we wail. So thanks pal you are still making it real. There is a tunnel at the end of the light.

As one who grew up during the sixties I found, the 'take to the streets? mentality was ffective, but only in a limited way. The radical movement of that time did teach me some very good lessons tho, and here's one of them.

In the early seventies I found myself in a small college gathering with the great troubadour, Harry Chapin. That night he sang a story that had a profound effect upon my approach to thinking. It was about the system, but from a different perspective, one of reality and truth. I found this concept of reality and truth standing side by side to be a rather novel idea.

Mr. Chapin told of people who would shout "DOWN WITH THE ESTABLISHMENT," but should they be robbed or should their home happen to catch fire, "Who do you call??; 'the Establishment? of course. I realized then that it wasn't the establishment at the bottom end that was the problem, but that policy making bunch at the top. Those who think they are the 'social Messiah's? or those on the other side of the coin, the "Power Mongers."

The dogmatist of the time used to tell me; Son, if you want things to change then you must join the system and change it from inside, that's the proper way. Believe it or not, this was actually a seriously missed opportunity of the sixties. The reason I say this is because, if both the roads of "Civil Disobedience? and "Joining the Establishment? are done at the same time, the world will have no choice but to change.

What is a True Patriot? Perhaps Thomas Paine articulated it best:

I listen to people say that they will accept a little less liberty for some extra security. These sunshine patriots will find themselves the subjugated servants of Tyranny, unless those like me, standup for the rights of our fellow man, of this, I would be remiss in my obligation as a "True Patriot" if I didn't.

Those who say our soldiers are our front line of defense for Freedom, have no concept or respect for the essence of the Declaration of Independence, United States Constitution or Bill of Rights. The people are the front line of defense for Freedom, not soldiers, as they are the last line of defense. If soldiers are truly needed, then the threat must be coming from outside our borders.

It is these three documents that combine to make our country the only one in existence with an absolute guarantee of freedom from Tyranny. Right now the real threat is not from outside our borders, but from within our own government. Who is Ashcroft to ask for broad powers that inflict harm on the Constitution? He is but Tyranny in disguise as a Patriot, that proverbial wolf in sheep clothing.

That Ashcroft's watchdog allows him to do this, means the watchdog must be his master. The first stage of Tyranny is to create fear, fore the fear makes the weak ask for protection. The second stage is the suppression of speech purporting its harm on the State. The third stage starts to get a little uglier, as citizens are asked to spy on their neighbors and citizens start to disappear. The fourth stage...

So I ask; Since when did speaking out become UN-Patriotic? If one looks at me and calls me UN-Patriotic for my speech, it will be the face of Tyranny itself and I will ignore it, even if it threatens me with imprisonment or death. Only one contriving to tether the Constitution would strike out against speech in any form.

I for one will not accept any less than is my full rights as a "Free Man". So I say to those who want to feel a little more secure; How dare you sell my freedom for such a paltry price! It is not the right of any, to diminish in any manner, the rights guaranteed to the citizens of this country.

How to effect change in the current political climate:

The Republican Party now calls itself the 'Party of Inclusion' while its members try to purge the party of the 'Republican In Name Only' (RINO) candidates. They say the GOP is actively working to get minorities involved. So, I say let's take them up on their offer and all join tomorrow. I propose that "We the People" all join the Republican Party. Right now their membership consists almost exclusively of the 'Lily White fleshy part of the human body that you sit on' type.

No! This is not a joke! I am very serious about this. If you follow my drift, you will find that what I am proposing makes perfect sense.

If everyone that considers the Republican Party a dredge on society would go and enroll in the Grand Old Party tomorrow, it would cease being a Party of the Rich and Remiss. It would revert over to a party of "We the People", one Thomas Jefferson would be proud to be a member of again.

Think of this action as a very big gun, one that will strike fear in those that have a reason to fear our inclusion.

Now for a few particulars:

By everyone I mean; Those who are opposite of white and those whites that are not of the aristocracy. Truth is, the hardcore GOP are a very small minority, and by the fact that we could easily outnumber them has great ramifications for them. We could change the outcome of the next election by hijacking their funds, after all, we would have the necessary votes to do it. We could refuse to finance anything or anyone we did not like. We could also rifle the filing cabinets and get the dirty little secrets they have been hiding, then turn them over to the public for scrutiny.

Some would call this Political Mischief, and I doubt that what the current GOP would have to say about this would even be printable. But it is achievable simply by signing a piece of paper and becoming active in the local political affairs of the Republican Party. The key is to be active in the affairs of... It is this action that will guarantee our success and deliver back to us the Jeffersonian conception of the "American Way".

We would then own the GOP, through the acquisition of power made possible by a large voting block. It is staggering to think what this would produce. It has the potential to become a party of the highest moral ethics. That this would be a Jeffersonian dream come true would be an understatement.

So gather your church group and civic organization members and go as a group and sign up as a Republican. The local news value alone, will put them on notice. After you find the rule book, which I'm sure they will take great care in hiding from you, study the book thoroughly. Use the rules to your advantage and make sure you get control of the treasury as fast as you can, otherwise the money might just disappear (You have to be very careful when you mess with someone's God.).

Once this is done "We the People" will have a well run and financed Political Party, and we will have a grand ol' party with the "Grand Old Party". And to those that might not think that this is enough punishment for hijacking the last election; I propose that you nominate William Jefferson Clinton for Chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Points of caution:

Make sure of the voting registration laws and in your area. It would not be a good idea to switch parties, only to find out that you cannot vote in the next election.

The Republican Party has a history of importing trouble. One only has to look at some of the incidents that happened in Florida to understand this to be a reality.

Outside of pure self-defense, violence is absolutely prohibited. Do not invite those who might cause trouble for your group. There are those who only want to start trouble, for the sake of trouble.

Before you decide to follow those other 'Leaders Amongst Men' that will jump in to lead the charge, the Nader's, Jackson's, Falwell's et alia. Think about this; How much did that suit they are wearing cost? How come only one kind of person follows them? If they are truly as humble as they say, why can't they seem to follow another or join together with others, that also profess to be on the "We the People's" side?

I do consider a few of these people to be Pseudo Leaders. Ralph Nader stepped over the line during the last election and demonstrated an intellectual smugness that is unbecoming of any leader. Jerry Falwell has pockets filled with the Rev. Sun Myung Moon's gold. Moon has told his followers that he is the second coming of the Messiah and all will bow before him.

Moon has also told his followers that he planed to usurp the US Constitution and start a Christian political party; "My dream is to organize a Christian political party including the Protestant denominations and Catholics and all the religious sects." (Report Of The Subcommittee On International Organizations Of The Committee On International Relations U.S. House Of Representatives; October 31, 1978)

In 1979 the Moral Majority was founded and the Rev. Falwell is not the only Christian Baptist who lines his pockets with Moon Gold; enough said...

A true leader is one that can lead or follow the best ideas, and has the respect of his friends and enemies alike.
